My hair has a burnt smell, even after being freshly washed. Help!?

Question:
I have been very stressed out and sometimes depressed and am taking some prescription meds to help me thru. My husband of 47 years recently died, then my mother died two months later.

Answers:
Mine gets that way because I use a straightner- used to use curling irons but now the straightener causes my hair to smell like this too even after washing- first off my condolences, last year I thought it would be a good year, we lost many people, with quite a few close to us, this year it was pets, AND people lost our 9 yr old shihtzu poodle to the recalled dog food In Feb, found out about the food recalled in March when they announced it- lost a few more loved ones as well- my heart and prayers go out to you-

About the hair thing? No shampoo I tried or conditioner has helped, it masks it somewhat but what I found to help was a hot oil treatment- I purchased Suave hot oil (3 tubes in a box) I have long thick hair so I had to use 2 tubes in hot tap water, I sprayed my hair down with a water bottle and worked through the hot oil from scalp to ends thoroughly- I let it sit for about 5-8 minutes (actually cleaned the bathroom and threw some laundry in while it was in my hair) then I showered and shampoo'd and put conditioner in it. I did this on Monday and my hair still doesn't smell burnt, so this may also work for you too.
Many hugs- you might try to find a yahoo group to join to share your emotions and story with others who are going through the same thing as you, those who truly can relate to what you are going through as supposed to people just saying "aw, so sorry to hear that"- No one truly knows what it is like unless they experience it first hand- for themselves.
I have not lost either one, but can only imagine the heartache and emotional stress and even anger you feel from your losses.
oh wow. i am truly sorry for your losses :( Maybe the prescription has something to do with it? I'd mention it to your doctor...
ditto what Me said.
My condolences. 47 years is a long time, it's going to take you a long time to feel normal again.
Take it easy for the next year.
