I'm going away to the South of France on Sunday... What sun protection factor do I need?
Question:
Thanks in advance to everyone who answers.
Answers:
as Lloyd's pharmacy say, the least you should use, is factor 15, hope you have a fantastic holiday, it sounds great,
30spf applied throughout the day.
yes start out with 70 the first day and keep going down till 35 then stay there
30 SPF is the minimum you should be using. Regardless of coloring, the sun can still damage your skin by even tanning just a little bit! When outside, protect your skin, when you're inside use a good self-tanner.
Wearing protective clothing and using sunscreen offer the best protection against sunburn for those who must be in the sun. Be sure to wear a hat and sunglasses - they will all wonder who is that movie star!
Sunscreen is an effective way to prevent sunburn. The SPF (sun protection factor) number on a sunscreen product will tell the user how effective the product is against the effects of the sun. A rating of SPF 2 in minimal protection, while an SPF rating of 30 or more is maximum protection and will not even allow tanning. Most physicians recommend a sunscreen of at least SPF 15 for adults and children. Sunscreen should be reapplied after extended time in the sun, excessive sweating, or swimming.
Have a great trip!
I wouldn't go for a SPF lower than 15 and alot of pharmacies don't sell sun protection under 15. I would say factor 15 would be enough for your skin.
15 is usually enough to avoid a burn if you have a tan already and want to get darker. You will still get some sun with it but it would take a while to burn. Just make sure to re-apply every couple of hours.
Have fun...I wish I was going.
