Here's a quick, mature, reasonable way:
Tell him you want to discuss something really important to you and serious. Make sure he realizes you're not playing.
Then tell him this hurts your feelings, you don't find it 'harmless' or 'no big deal'...and that hurting your feelings is something he should care about.
Ask him directly if he is trying to tell you something or suggest something to you by bringing it up repeatedly.
Finally, tell him that you have enough self-respect and dignity that you're not the type of girl to put up with that kind of lack of respect. Let him know gently, non-threateningly...but firmly.that the next time he does that, you're out of there.
And back it up.
Next time he brings it up, you have to decide to either get an immediate apology (hey, guys are stupid...I ought to know) or YOU WALK, GIRL.

First of all what is your boyfriend still doing talking about his ex. There's a reason why she's the ex and you're the new girlfriend. If he's comparing you to her or just bringing it up for no reason then i think he's with the wrong person. You need someone who likes you for who you are and how you look and not someone who's comparing you to their ex and/or trying to make you look like her if that's what he wants then he needs to go back to her and leave you alone so you can find someone out there who appreciates everything that you are.
