Answers:
ugh... i dreaded my first time at the gyno.. and that was me going into the military and using a military doc... :P oo the fun...
most docs make the acutal process itself pretty quick and painless... it doenst actually hurt dont worry! if you are uncomfortable having a male doc, request a female doc or a standby- someone to stand and watch the doc to make sure they are doing their job. with male docs i always have a standby.. the one female doc i had- no problems with her. ask your doc what the process is have them explain it to you.. also share their concerns with you- they will be more understaing and help you through the process.. the actual procedure from start to finish takes about 5 min... super short!
i have never been but they stick there hand all the way up you.
That's like my same story! I'm also 15 and I just went to the gyn. I was so freaked out about it beforehand, i stayed up all night worrying about it. But it only takes about 20 minutes or less. It really wasn't as bad as i was expecting. Before I knew it it was over with. I'd say just don't worry about it, and also tell your doctor about how you are scared of being raped, maybe she can help you, or refer you to a therapist (just so that you know, most people you know go to therapists so it's no big deal). Hope I helped!
If you have a good doctor, you'll do fine. My first doc was very professional. She told me everything she was about to do and why. Hopefully your doc will walk you through your exam and explain things. It doesn't take long at all. She'll probably do a quick breast exam, and then she'll do a pap. The pap doesn't take long, but it's not comfortable. I always feel like I'm getting severe period cramps when she does the pap. You'll be fine. After your 2nd or 3rd time, it'll be a piece of cake.
Even though you are in a vulnerable situation, it is very unlikely you will even feel embarassed. Usually the nurse in the office comes in when an examine is being made. This is for the doctor's security as well as the patient's. Inappropriate behaviour happens both ways, believe it or not.

You will be asked to remove some of your clothing. If anything has to taken off the top, you will be given a hospital gown to put on. Of course the bottoms will have to come off, but if you are wearing socks, you can leave them on. Not that it makes much difference at this point, but I feel a little more secure leaving them on, so I do. You will be given a small sheet to cover yourself up with for the bottom half. I feel like it is more of a security blanket.

The exam will be a little scary because you have never had it done before. I don't think there is any woman that enjoys this procedure, but it is for your better health, and that is the best way to think of it. The pap test may feel like an ache or a scrape, but the gyn is not trying to hurt you. The more you can relax your muscles, the less stress you will put on your body. Wear a small pad that day, in case there is a little blood spot, or the gyn uses a lot of lubricant for the exam. You don't want it to leak through your undies.

Usually a nurse will take your blood pressure and weigh you before the doctor actually sees you. That is the time to mention your concerns. The nurse will relay them to the doctor so she/he knows where you are at.

Everything will be ok. I am glad your step mom cares enough about you to help. This is all part of taking care of ourselves, but it is wonderful to have a close friend near by.
