Are ovaries and other female organs visible on x-rays?
Question:
Answers:
You cannot see the uterus, ovaries or fallopian tubes on regular x-ray. If you were to have a calcified fibroid, that calcification could be seen with x-ray. In order to see the fallopian tubes with x-rays, a HSG is performed and a special contrast or dye must be used.
Pelvic ultrasound or pelvic CT and MRI scans will show the uterus and ovaries well. The ultrasound is usually used first, as it is the most cost effective.
To learn more about HSG, this is a good website:

The above site also talks about other female medical conditions, and which imaging techniques are best.
They use pelvic ultrasounds to check out ovaries and such.
X-rays are more for bones.
To see ovaries, etc., you need an ultrasound (sonogram).
yes, x-ray can visualize them..
They do it with a pelvic ultrasound. I've had several done, shows ovaries and uterus. If they need to see the uterus more closely there is a procedure they can do in the office where they numb your cevix and insert a tube with a tiny camera and can see inside the uterus. The ultrasound was not unfortable at all, but I have had 4 children. They just insert a plastic thing like a large tampon into you vaginally. The other procedure for the camera wasn't very uncomfortable at all after they numbed my cervix.
