What can I do to alleviate some of the bloated feeling I am having?

Question:
My doctor put me on a cortecosteroid about a month ago, and I feel like a big, fat, swollen cow!! My mood is down because I'm not used to feeling like this. My face, neck, middle, legs, ankles - everything looks swollen. Even my fat clothes feel tight!! And to top it off - we are going on a trip to the beach this weekend - talk about beached whale! Is there anything I can do?

Answers:
No there is nothing you can do until you get off the steroids. The edema is one of the main side effects of steroids.
You're probably just retaining water. Try taking a diuretic, assuming it is safe to take with your other meds. This should help alot!
Waite a while. See the result first. I say 4 more weeks should be enough.
Look for a diuretic at your pharmacy. This is a medication that helps eliminate extra water in your tissues that make you swell.

Also, if you tend to feel somewhat constipated, a very natural medication for that... the best on the market... is Miralax.
Sorry there isn't much you can do. Go to the toilet when you need to so you are getting rid of as much fluid as possible, but you must keep drinking or you will become dehydrated.
Do not take diuretics before speaking to your doctor or you can risk dehydrating your cells
if you drink hot stuff that can be helpful because the bloting will go down also try a hot/warm towel on your somach... hope all goes well..
