Am I fertile without periods?
Question:
Answers:
If you WERE menstruating at one point but are no longer doing so, chances are that you ARE fertile, but because of your lack of body fat and low body weight, you're neither menstruating nor ovulating. If you got yourself to a healthy weight and got your body fat to about 10% you would most likely start menstruating again.
However, do NOT rely on the fact that you are not menstruating to act as birth control. There are plenty of women who get pregnant without periods.
I don't know if you're fertile...but you could possibly be the perfect woman!
Yes you can but it much hard to get pregnant, and if you don't have a period by the time your 18 go to the gyno. You could have something wrong, and the gyno is better then a regular doctor who doesn't do anything about it.
this is something out would have to ask your ob if your under weight, not saying you are, but it could have effect on your perods, and usaully no periods= not fertile..
Well, you can't get pregnant without a period. BUT, because your periods are irregular it's hard to predict when you're ovulating, the point in your cycle at which your most fertile. Years down the road if you're still having this problem, you'll definitely want to talk to a gynecologist about it, as it can definitely cause a problem with trying to conceive.
You cannot get pregnant if you don't get your period. Getting your period means your body is shedding the lining in its uterus it prepared for the chance that an egg is fertilized. If you don't get your period, it means your body is not producing that lining and therefore, a fertilized egg would have nowhere to implant itself and would die and be flushed out of your system.
If you're over five feet tall and only weigh 100 lbs, you are probably underweight. A heavy exercise routine, while probably healthy unless you are unnecessarily straining yourself, isn't helping. You need to have a certain percentage of fat to have your period, and it sounds like you don't have that percentage.
If your doctor says you're healthy and you have gotten your period in the past, you will probably be able to get pregnant if your period returns once you regain some body fat. However, without your period, it is impossible for you to become pregnant.
(Note: If you are sexually active, not having your period does not mean you can forget about birth control. Obviously, it protects against STDs, which is a big part of why people use it. But also, you cannot be sure if and when your period will return. If perhaps you have sex one month without birth control, and you were ovulating, the egg could very well be fertilized. You may think you're still not getting your period, but your body may have been building a lining in your uterus that month for the first time in years, giving the zygote a place to implant itself. So if you do have sex, never forget the birth control, no matter what state of fertility you think you're in.)
You may not be fertile. Your weight is low, but what is your BMI or body fat percentage. Some women who have a very low BMI are infertile. The body needs a certain amount of fat to function normally in order to produce hormones. If the hormones are not being made at the right times or amounts, then the period may stop. With low levels you would also be infertile.
Your doctor is not telling you the whole truth; most women that do not have periods are taking birth control. Buth there are very few women in very good health that do not menstruate, but they are still fertile.
Maybe you are and maybe you aren't fertile, but don't rush to find out by having sex.
First off your doctor is wrong - it's simply untrue. You should be seeing a gynecologist. It's probably because of your low weight that you don't have your period, which in the end isn't very healthy for you - it could affect your future fertility. Estrogen is stored in fat, so you need SOME fat on your body to have the proper female hormone proportions.
