How to help my wife get a good sleep?

Your wife may have problems breathing because of excess fluid accumulating in her body. Does she undergo dialysis? Has her weight increased? (You must keep a record of her weight. She must weigh every day, using the same scale, wearing the same clothes. Record the weight in a notepad to show to her doctor). If so, please make sure that fluid is taken care of. It's not going to get better on its own and it'll eventually kill her if nothing is done about it. The breathing problem happens when the heart cannot properly pump the excess fluid, so this fluid starts building up in the lungs - which are supposed to be filled with AIR, not fluid! This is a very serious situation. Make sure she does not eat foods that contain a lot of salt (chips, canned soups, etc.), make sure she does not drink too much. She will probably need to spend some time in the hospital to take care of this crisis. Diuretics such as Lasix and dialysis are probably what she needs the most at this point. Take her to the doctor immediately. Propping her up with extra pillows may work for a very short while, but it is a band-aid solution. Much more aggressive measures are needed at this point. My website (www.romancing-the-soap.com) does contain information for sleeping problems, but in your wife's case there is a serious underlying disease that must be dealt with immediately. Best to you and your wife.
Get a pillowtop mattress by Sterns and Foster. Also proper her up with about four pillows.
