I went into the bathroom to use the toilet and I realized that I had started my period. I was really scared about telling me mum but I knew I would have to eventually, so I asked her to come upstairs into the bathroom and I just told her that I thought I had started my period.
She really helped me out with everything after then, so no matter how embarrassing or scary it feels, just come out with it and tell her. She can help with period pains, when you need more supplies, anything... because she might have gone through some of the stuff you are experiencing already!

tell her you have cancer. she will say "WHAT?!?". then show her your bloody underwear and she will say "oooh, i see" and its all downhill from there.

aww hun don't worry! I know it's really scary. I was eleven years old (almost 12) But I didn't know so then I thought I didn't have to even tell her in person. So I emailed her that told her. My mother and I also don't have an open relationship. To this day it's still akward and I still don't talk to her about this kind of stuff and I'm fourteen. So if you mom has an email address email her. Trust me it helps!
i was 11 and i had to go to acro that night in a white leo. worst day of my life. anyway, i just told her "don't tell anybody, but i think i got my period"...i was really shy about that stuff, lol. she just took me to the store, got the stuff, and that was that. your mom might be more open to talk about your questions than you think. my mom was, but i didnt take advantage of it because i was so scared and miserable, and i really had a lot i wanted to know but had to learn elsewhere.
you might want to say something along the lines of "hey mom, where di we put those tampons we bought?" and hope she gets the hint.
don't worry - the symtoms you describe are typical of a girl coming into womanhood.
and its natural to feel awkward - but please don't! just casually tell your mom like its no big deal.
and if you have any questions - ask her or an aunt or an older female friend?

second of all, your mom obviously expected you to be getting your period or she wouldn't have bought you the supplies.
just find a time when she is alone, or when you're in the car with her. then tell her you started. chances are it will be a little bit awkward but you make it that way by being so stand-offish towards her.
i expected it to be very awkward between my mom and i, but it really wasnt. i said "mom i think i started my period..." and she said "do you need anything?"
and that was it.

i actually thought my mom and i would be okay about it, but instead it was kinda the opposite. i told her i thought i got it (i was 13) and she just sat in the living room and told me to get a pad. when i had asked her how to do it, she told me to read on the package. so, when i first started out, she really didn't help me. later on, when i got used to it, i would approach her with questions like, how can i make the cramps go away? and she'd answer things like that. but, to be honest, this is your period. this is the beginning of your life independent of your parents. learn to deal with it on your own.
oh, i would sleep with a dark colored towel under you, just in case you leak. and if you do leak, run COLD water over the blood spots ASAP.
one time i leaked in class, so it is important to be able to have a sweatshirt or something that you can tie around your waist for a minute until you get to a nurses office.

That blood was put there to line your uterus so you can carry a baby, since you didn't use it, your body then dumps it. It can't be too much, it can only be what your body prepared. well im 13 too and i started like 4 months ago. I thought it would be totally akward with my mom... even though i trust her and everything it was just hard to do i had to kinda push myself to do it.
All i did was go up to my mom and say " i think i got my thing"
and she was like " what, did you get your period?" and then from there yeah she got me everything i needed.
In your case you can say, " mom, i used the special supplies you gave me"

I start when I was 13 and it was just before school and I screamed to my mom because it was a total surprise to me but my family actual gave me lots of different stuff and then they each wrote about their stories. (I'm 18) I hate them still but it's a part of life. Just tell your mother it will make it easier.
