I have never had warts on genitals?

Question:
i have never had warts on genitals but when i was a kid i had warts on my thumb and finger they are way gone now but since i had them is there a chance i can get cervical cancer.

Answers:
Most people hae experienced some strain of the Human Papilloma Virus which is usually the common hand wart, but genital warts is sexually transmitted. You will not acquire the STD unless you are exposed to someone who has it & you have unprotected sex. In addition, the strain of HPV that causes cervical cancer doesn't usually cause genital warts!
sure because there is always a chance
No.

The warts you had on your thumb and finger are from a different kind of HPV virus - the non-sexual kind and is not dangerous.
The type of wart you have on your hand is a different strain then what you would get on your cervix or vaginal area. You don't only get hpv on your cervix you also get it on your vaginal lips.

It is not to say that if you are sexually active and have not used condoms your partner was not infected. Most men do not have signs of HPV. So I recommend to always use condoms even though this can be transmitted with skin on skin contact.
