Question:
My husband and I have been TTC for a while now with no success. I know it takes a while to get pregnant, but I have some concerns. I took someone's advice and bought some OPK's just to make sure I was ovulating. Last Monday I took one and it came back positive. We had sex all that week. Friday I was cramping REALLY bad, so I got curious and took another OPK and it too, came back positive. I started doing some research online and saw that having a positive OPK that many days apart wasn't a good sign... so just to be sure, I took another one on Monday and it TOO came back +. I thought maybe the tests were defective, so I went and bought another brand, and the next day, it was negative.
I read that having pos. OPK's means you could have PCOS. I've never missed a period. And I don't have any symptoms except skin tags... do you think I'm at risk, though?
Answers:
Don't use the OPKs..they can be misleading. Have sex at least 3 times a week whenever possible and enjoy it. If you have been trying for at least a year see your doctor because you need to have some investigations.if you are over 35 and you have been trying for 9 months then probably go earlier. Stop smoking if you do, lose weight if you need to and reduce alcohol if you overdo it. ( both you and your partner) . Take folic acid. Don't worry about PCOS ...if you have it your doc will tell you( you don't seem to have any symptoms though).
Go to your doctor to discuss this.
