What is it?

Question:
I had protected sex about a month and a half ago and was paraniod i had caught something so i got myself tested after about 2 weeks, well i got my results back and everything is negatve. However after i had my swabs done i developed symtoms very similar to a uti so i was given trimethorpim which worked at first so i stopped taking them after a few days how ever a further few days and the symptoms came back, could it be that the sti test was wrong or that because i didnt finish the course the infection hadnt gone and came back?

Answers:
Don't worry- the results of your test aren't wrong. You need to complete any course of medication. Trimethroprim is prescribed for urinary tract infections, usually for 3 days. Sometimes a 2nd course, for 1 week, is required.

I'm a nurse, and have had Trimethroprim myself, for UTIs, and had to repeat the dose straight away.
you have to finish a full course of antibiotics or the infection will return
More than likely because you didn't finish the course. You must ALWAYS finish a course of antibiotics!
The STI tests were 100% right! You do not have an STI. You should have finished the medicine for your UTI b/c it didn'tfinish it's job. You need to explain to your doctor that you didn't finish treatment and he/she will give you another prescribtion. God Bless
go back to your doctor you just maybe need stronger meds and it is important to finish the course. try not to worry things will be ok :)
You have to finish the entire coarse of antibiotics. you don't stop just because you feel better
Why don't you ask the doctor instead of worrying. Worry never did anyone any good.
Not finishing the course of medication is probably the cause. A reinfection is a UTI that occurs more than 2 weeks after antibiotic treatment of the original UTI is completed; it may be caused by the same bacteria as the original infection or a different one. The following are risk factors for reinfection:

Having frequent sexual intercourse
Use of a diaphragm or spermicide
History of 2 or more recurrent UTIs over a 6-month period or 3 or more UTIs over a year
Having the first UTI before age 15
Having a mother with a history of UTIs
Low estrogen level (in females)
First of all, you need to calm down, girl. Second, always, always, always finish the course of pills your doctor gives you! Go get tested again if you are still worried. Although you may not want to bother if you are not going to follow directions.
the latter
finsh using the medication so it will go away
Your just human, people very rarely finish their course of anti-biotics, but in your case you really should have.

The first few days of the drugs kill the strongest part of the bacteria/infection/whatever, then the remainder of the course ensures that all signs of the bacteira has gone completely.

Go back to your doctors to get more anti-biotics please.

Good luck :)
Always finish the full dose of antibiotics...could be PID! Its a form of chlamydia!
You have to finish the course or it won't go away fully.
