My first pap test..nervous??

In some clinics that have nurse practioners. They are well trained & work under a doctor supervision for everything. If they find something they cannot handle the doctor is right there to consult with. As for the actual test, it doesn't hurt, it is just more uncomfortable that anything laid there all laid out for them to see. Listen to music, count ceiling tiles, (been there done that several times). They are professional, tell them this is your first time, they will explain eveyrthing they do to ease your anxieties.
You have the right to have a relative or friend with you in the room when you are examined. They don't have to "look" they can simply stand beside you and face you and hold your hand. It is a bit scarey, but this should help you feel safer. Everyone feels this way.
It should not be painful, but may be slightly uncomfortable. If you relax your muscles, it goes more quickly. And, really, it just take a few seconds. Trust me, this is not the highlight of the doctor or nurse's day either.
It is imperative that you have that discharge checked out immediately. Some infections can affect your ability to have children, not to mention risk your life.
Peace be with you!
No, this is fine for a nurse to do. The test will go to the lab and then a doctor will get the results.
He will determine if you need treatment or whatever.
It's really not so bad, wait until you have a baby! Everybodys down there!
I guess that was an unnecessary statement, I was just tryin to lighten things up!
depends.. if your going to Plan parenthood i think they are nurses that do that.. you can go to a dr but the cost will be lots more. besides paps are no big deal.. some people make it out like its something bad. if you just relax everything will be ok.. as for my last pap with my dr. and we were moving out of state so i had mine before the move. my dr was a real cutie lol i told him take your time i am moving and its your last chance youll see me like this.. lol. he just cracked up.. good luck kiddo you will do fine..
I would feel better with a nurse b/c they do them all the time...just relax...it sounds like you got burnt.wrap it up at all times!! if your sex-in a lot you should get regular std checks and paps.also ask about hvp vaccine and make sure you get a HIV test...also ask them to check for all stds to include hvp you probably have hvp most people do but you got to do better if your going to be sexually active. i haven't had sex in 2 years+ but i still get a pap every six months and a HIV test every three months i could be over doing it but you only get one life got to be careful!! just relax it doesn't hurt!!
youre going to be fine it goes by fast they just check for lumps in your breast and check your private area they are going to open you up downthee but it doesnt hurt they need to take tissue sample from you its just a quick snip it feels like a pinch it doesnt hurt
The nurse doing the test is just fine. Lots of nurse practioners do this routinely. And you may feel more comfortable because the nurse is probably a woman. The tests will be done, meds prescribed and you will feel better soon.
Here's a detailed account of what will happen:

dont be nervous, it's fine. it might feel a little odd having someone down there but really it's no big deal. They're medics, they do it every day. I suppose it's a routine job so a nurse is fine for the job - the doctors are busy trying to save lives somewhere.
Dont worry, it's fine. Really.
I'm going for mine soon and im nervous too. I'm taking my partner to ease the nerves a little bit. Its fine for a nurse to do it as the nurse just gets the swabs. The doctor will examine them. or send them to a specialist. :)
Goodluck Remember. breathe
