Does the Nuvaring decrease sex drive? Does it cause emotional problems/mood swings?

Question:
I stopped oral contraceptives due to mood problems and lack of sex drive. My doctor suggested Nuvaring and said it has a lower risk of side effects. I was wondering if there are any current or former Nuvaring users who could tell me their experience?

Answers:
There is no birth control method that doesn't have side effects, the one thing i can tell is you that every woman is different. Some women will feel great to certain birth control while others feel it the worse. I can tell you i've been on the Nuvaring 2 years prior to getting pregnant with my second child and never felt any reason to change method because I've never been so happy with any other birth control. After giving birth I was on it for about another year or so with no real problems. I went off of it for 4 months because of personal reasons but decided to use it again and I haven't been the same since, I know am experiencing mood swings, lost of a sexual drive and I am just not myself, I wanted to see if my body needed to adjust back to it, but after 3 months I have realized it is ruining my relationship with my husband and my children.
I am not saying it isn't for you and I am not saying that it is, what I am saying is that sometimes you need to give it a try before knowing what is really right for you and if it works know that doesn't mean it will work for you later.
I am no user but there are several sites dealing with nuvaring side effects:
