Breast screening. This was my first screening. The pain was almost unbearable. Is this nornal?

Obviously I can't speak for other women but I can tell you I found it extremely painful. I know it doesn't last long but my God, does it hurt.
Thank god we only have to have them every 5 years!

Dont have an abnormal mammo...you will get a lot of mammograms if anything is abnormal. Chin up and breathe in it is over before you know it.
Can you die from Fibroids? and also can you die from the surgery?
yes it is, if it hurts that much you can ask the radiographer to apply a little less pressure BUT the more displaced the tissue the better the final image which I'm sure you will agree is the most important thing! the reason they apply so much pressure is to 'even out' the tissue as you have dense tissue close to the chest wall and a thinner area at the nipple. if they didn't the radiograph would not be diagnostic.
I'm sure the pain will go soon, just take some painkillers and let them know next time you go how you suffered after. as for feeling sick-no idea.
yes every screening I had had has been painful - u would think that someone would come up with something less painful in this day and age

Believe me pet the pain you felt for that is nothing to the pain you could go through with Breast Cancer! I had a radical mastectomy some years ago and I still get the odd bout of pain. You just have to grin and bear it every time, and lets face it it could save your life! Surely a few minutes of pain now is worth it?
