No it really shouldn't hurt when you insert the capsule. You can either stand up or lie on your back, take a deep breath, and relax your muscles when you do it. The more tense you are the more uncomfortable it will be.
It will probably be uncomfortable, but it wont be excruciating or anything like that.
The easiest position to insert it is sitting on the toilet. Just make sure you read the directions carefully so you use it properly. If you dont use it properly it will not work and you will just have to buy another one.
Another tip, put it in before bed time. That ensures it will stay inside of you and not run out while you are doing during the day activity. :)
I was told by my doctor that it is better to use the 7 day treatment rather than the 1 day or 3 day. So if the infection comes back try the 7 day instead. Generic brands also work just as well. The best postion would be laying on your back with your knees to your chest. Read the directions in the package they have suggestions.

try lying on your back, knees bend and feet flat on the floor. Sit in front of a mirror if possible so you can see what you are doing. It shouldn't be sore. Good Luck.
Another good treatment is natural yogurt. Rub some onto a sanitary pad when you go to bed, it really relieves the itching.

Firstly I presume you know where you have to stick the capsule.
The capsule should fit into the end of a small, thin applicator which you push inside and then squeeze it out of the applicator using the little plunger.
If you are in doubt where to stick it, put one leg on a chair and use a mirror to have a look, you might have to spread the outer lips to see the entrance.
If I were you, once you know where the entrance is I would put some Vaseline, or KY jelly , on your 'clean' forefinger, feel for the entrance and just slip your finger in, not to far, just far enough to smear the lubricant into the entrance, then insert the capsule and applicator.
