Mild cervical dyplasia not due to HPV--precancerous?

Question:
I had an abnormal pap back in February. In March, my gyno performed a cervical biopsy and told me that I had mild cervical dyplasia. I have another appointment in November to see if the dyplasia goes away. Will this turn into cancer?

I don't believe that this is related to HPV--I've had one partner only and have been with him for 13 years.

At the time of my pap I was on the verge of getting a very big yeast infection. Related?

Answers:
Have you actually been tested for HPV? Find out. Sometimes the same sample that was used for your pap smear is tested for HPV if the pap comes back abnormal.

If you have *definitely* been tested for HPV and the result was negatvie, you are highly, highly unlikely to develop cervical cancer. 99+% of cervical cancers are related to HPV.

The yeast infection (or the cream used to treat it) could indeed cause a false positive on a pap smear.
If your gyno did not tell you that you tested positive for HPV, then no, you do not have it. If it was, your gyno would want to see you every 3 months, not 8 months later.
