Four negative pregnancy tests can't be wrong right?

Question:
I am on the pill but after a lighter period (light in volume but same number of days) and for some reason decided to take pregnancy tests...four to be exact. The last one I used would have been a week after my period started. They were negative. They can't be wrong right??

I used First Response and have heard they have been the most accurate but am tempted by the dollar store ones?? I don't want to take another but I need to stop worrying about this...please help! And it may sound like I shouldn't be having sex at all but I over-think and worry about everything...lol I'm so OCD!

Answers:
It sounds like you've had a real, menstrual period which means that you are absolutely not pregnant.

Some women who experience false negatives with pregnancy tests tend to do so with nearly every test they take in early pregnancy. To be certain you could go to a doctor and have a blood test taken, but I do not think this is necessary.

Don't worry about things that shouldn't be worried about! You're fine, be happy!
Odds have it, no. But if you slipped through the 99% of each test... would be the day i win the lottery 3 times in a row.
You are definitly not pregnant if you are having a period. Occasionally women experience spotting during pregnancy but nothing close to a period. Save your money. There is no need to keep buying the tests. Best of luck!
Home pregnancy tests are more sensitive now and can detect a pregnancy earlier. I would say you're safe but if you still want confirmation then have a serum pregnancy test done at your doctor's office.
It doesn't sound like you're pregnant. The pill will make your period lighter anyway so it sounds like you have nothing to worry about.
If you really are OCD, nothing will help you get peace of mind other then going to the doctor.
Pregnancy Testing 101:

1. Conception (the fertilization of an egg) occurs in the fallopian tube.
2. The fertilized egg travels (3-5 days) to the uterus and implants itself.
3. The implanted embryo begins producing HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), the "pregancy hormone" that urine pregnancy tests detect.
4. Most pregnancy tests detect HCG no sooner than 10 days after a missed period. 11-14 days after a missed period is usually a better timeline.
5. Some women do not produce enough HCG in their urine to be detected in a urine test. These women usually a serum (blood) HCG test.
6. The only positive pregnancy sign is a fetal heartbeat.
7. Pregnancy tests can be false-negative. If a pregnancy test is positive and a woman's period starts later, what has probably happened is that conception and implantation occurred but either the uterine tissue was not suitable or the embryo was not viable.

I know you are anxious. But you may be taking these pregnancy tests too soon. You don't mention how long you have been on birth control pills; often for the first few months to a year your periods can be lighter, or even heavier, than normal. This may be what has happened to you.

Please wait until 14 days after your missed period. Then take another urine test. If it is negative, and if you really feel you might be pregnant, see a physician for further evaluation.
From one jersey girl to another- no- you are not pregnant... When i got pregnant with my daughter the test showed positive the day after we conceived- they are pretty accurate, you took 4 and they were negative, trust that you are not pregnant.
You are on the pill, chances are unlikely you will get pregnant.
