When I was very anxious and stressed out (during the time I was suffering from bi-polar disorder), my therapist suggested taking a Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc supplement before bed (take two or three). Calcium is a natural sedative (which is why your mom would give you warm milk when you couldn't sleep as a kid), and the magnesium and zinc will help your body absorb it.
Also, try sitting in bed and doing breathing exercises. Regulate your breathing so that you're inhaling deeply and exhaling deeply naturally. Once you've got your breathing right, imagine that you're in the place you feel/felt safest. Concentrate on that safe feeling. Then, systematically and consciously try to relax every muscle in your body, starting with your head and moving your way down your body.
Take Valerian root pills every night before you go to bed. It will help you to relax and get to sleep. It is safe and all natural. You can get it in the vitamin section of your local drug store.
try going to bed and reading a bad book
Start getting up very early in the morning then you'll feel more like going to bed earlier at night.
Don't overstimulate your mind just before you go to bed. Have a bath & unwind before you go to bed
try burning some lavender oil it helps calm your body and reduces stress burn it about 1/2 hour before you go to bed or even if you spend time in your room burn it and the smell of it will calm you good luck
watch some tv then read a good book then listen to classical music it will help
It will get back to normal as soon as you become de-stressed however that will happen.
Don't try to force the issue, you will become restless and consequently even more stressed.
Go with the flow for now, and one day; when your problems are resolved, you will struggle to stay awake past your normal bedtime, it just has to happen when it's ready, not necessarily when you are.
If ur having trouble sleeping then I suggest that you pray or meditate just to find ur innerpeacse. Then just review on what has happened the past 2 or 3 weeks. It might be beacause of a certain event in your life or a change of energy flow in your house. I hope this helps Good luck!
Make yourself get up at 7am every morning, regardless of how badly you have slept the night before! It's amazing how many people claim to sleep badly yet manage to stay in bed til 3 in the afternoon!
If you make yourself get up and do things you will be surprised how quickly you can get into a routine of sleeping well!
you need to get yourself on a schedule and stick to it. try it for a week even on the weekend go to bed at the same time. if you still have trouble go see the doctor and they can prescribe you a sleep aid or something that will help you relax at night at get a decent sleep.
First be VERY wary of ANY sleeping pill. They are so addictive that if they are taken 3, yes THREE, nights in a row, that withdrawal and ADDITIONAL sleep difficulty can be demonstrated on the forth night if they are then not taken. Almost no GPs seem to be aware of the available evidence demonstrating this!
Do not read, exercise or watch TV for at least 30 minutes before retiring as these are all brain stimulants. Take a warm, caffeine free drink. Also try aromatherapy quality lavender oil either on the pillow, or in a warm bath before retiring.
by going to bed anytime before then would be the obvious answer to your question!
