I have been off my contraceptive pill for approx 8 months now.?
Question:
I came off as me and my partner are trying for a baby.
Was on the pill for 4 years.
Last month my period was absolutly fine, this month it has so far been 37 days since the end of my last period, no signs or symptons til today.
i woke up, nothing, just before i went to work i went to the toilet, wiped myself and there was a tiny bit of blood, so thinking ii have come on used a tampon.
Few hours later i went to the toilet, removed tampon, and it wass just coveredin brown, not discharge just brown not evena bit red.
i removed this but another one in, and now when taking it out only has about a 5p coins worth of blood on, have decided not to use tampon just use a towel.
Anybody had anything similar to this, or anybody have any thoughts?

If I were you I would consider doing an at home pregnancy test just in case you are pregnant. Sometimes in early pregnancy, you may have brownish discharge, to even spotting. If you have been off the pill for 8 months and having unprotected sex, obviously.. I would get a kit and check to see if you are pregnant and make your first gyne appt. if positive. I actually stopped taking the pill about a week before I got married, and the doctor figured I had conceived on my wedding nite, yet she also had told me i had such bad endometriosis, she wasn't sure i would ever be able to conceive. So go for it and check it out, early am urine is the best. No more tampons till you check.
What you could be experiencing is called implanation bleeding. Not all women get it, but some women, when the fertilized egg implants itself into your uterus, will see a little bit of brown discharge and/or bloody spotting for a day or two. It can be very light or it can be a bit on the heavier side, like a really light period. This happens because the fertilized egg must burrow deep into your uterus to incubate and can sometimes force it's way through veins inside the tissue, causing a small to medium amount of harmless bleeding. Go get yourself a pregnancy test- if this was implantation bleeding, now is the time that your body will begin to make HcG (the hormone that pregnancy tests detect). Good luck!!
I have had a brown discharge that was considered to be normal spotting. This has happened to me on numerous occasions, that the spotting can be brownish, and then I get what they call "full flow" and it's red. It is considered "full flow" of you need a pad. I personally wear a pad instead of a tampon in the beginning of the cycle so I can better monitor this.
I would start tracking your cycle on a calendar, and describe the bleeding, including the spotting, whether it is heavy, light, getting heavier or lighter, etc. If you can use a pantyliner, you are considered to be spotting.
I would not wait more than a year to go to the doctor. Some doctors say that you really should get pregnant (if you have been having timed intercourse) within 6 months. Others say a year. This also depends on how old you are.
If you are not pregnant within 12 months of trying, I would see a reproductive enocrinologist. It would be in your best interest rather than going to an ob/gyn, even if the ob/gyn says that he/she treats infertility. Don't waste time. Just go to the experts. Your records will be important to them, so be sure to write down what your body is doing each day during your cycle.
Best of luck to you. I know it is so hard to wait each month, wondering if you are pregnant, hoping that this is the month that it will happen. I hope it works for you soon, and naturally. If it does not, don't wait for it to happen, because it may not, and precious time is ticking away. The younger you are, the better your fertility. Best wishes!
