Low Progesterone Question during period?
So if you get a blood test done and the doctor says that the progesterone is low, does that mean it's low for this cycle because I was on my period. Isn't it higher when you ovulate?
What I'm trying to say is that if it's low during my period, then that should be normal, no? That doesn't mean that my progesterone is ALWAYS low..or does that blood test tell the doctor that normally it's low.Sorry for the confusion.
I forgot to ask my obgyn that question and she won't be in the office for the next several days so I was curious...
What can exact my time to be belatedly?
Answers:
Progesterone is the hormone that your body releases when you're ovulating. The purpose of this is to hold a pregnancy in the event that the ovum released is fertilized. Progesterone is the hormone that is responsible for the thickening of your endometrium right before "that time of the month".
When you start your period, there is a severe drop in progesterone, which, in turn, releases the thickened blood lining the uterus, and makes you start your period.
This is why your progesterone is low when you're on your period.
