Girls I'm scared?

If you've ever been to the dentist, the eye doctor should be a breeze! The eye doctor is not there to hurt you, but to help you improve on your health. If you have poor eyesight, the doctor will try and help you improve on it rather than letting it get worse. Just take a deep breath and go into the doctors office knowing you will walk out in better shape than you came in!
wrong section..
Eye exams aren't something to be afraid of. They are much better than the dentist. You will have a series of tests. You will read with your left eye, and switch to right. Some of the letters and numbers look alike, so don't feel bad if you miss some. Then the doctor will put eye drops in your eyes and you will leave for a few minutes. Then you will return and will do more tests and your prescription will be figured out and you leave.
Please just go it wont hurt and if you dont find out whats wrong now u might not be able to fix they problem later
why are you so scared?? Why would your mom have a problem with you telling her?? You will be soooooo much happier when you get glasses/contacts! There is nothing to worry about. BTW , ppl will definately notice you can't see when you start driving.
It is no big deal, Lola. There is absolutely nothing to be frightened about. I'm almost 59 and have been wearing glasses since I was 8. As a matter of fact, I have an eye examination Tuesday morning.
There is nothing painful involved. The optometrist may put some drops in your eyes to dilate the pupils so he/she can see into your eyes. This may last a bit, so take some sunglasses with you to wear for a bit outside after the examination.
I reiterate, nothing to fear. Good luck!
Just relax hon, everything's going to be fine, just think positive, an eye exam it's not as scaring a gynecologist check up!!!!,take it easy baby.
Go to a female doctor.you will feel much more comfortable and she will understand more if you can't see the E. People can't see the E all the time. Even her at times. You'll be fine. relax.
If you are scared you can't even see the E, then you should have went by now & your school should have found a problem that bad on a health screening. As far as eye appointments go, go sweat, no pain, nothing hurts. They take you in a dark room, have you put your forehead up against different machines, they look inside your eyes, measure your eyes, & take all kinds of measurements they will need to make glasses/contacts. Have you look straight ahead & tell them when you see lights or stuff over on each side checking your side vision. Use a quick puff of air in each eye to check the pressure for glaucoma, this feels funny & they tell you not to move & you want to SO BAD because it appears they are going to poke it right in your eye, but it never touches it at all so don't be scared when it looks like it is going to touch. Then the doctor will have you read eye charts, changes lenses, read letters etc to get right RX for glasses. THEN they might give you eye drops to dilate your eyes to use a light & look in them very closely to see the optic nerves, blood vessels, check for any damage inside. You will need to wear sun glasses for a couple hours after this as you will be sensitive to light, but it doesn't hurt either...Other doctor's may do things slightly different, but this is the general why things go, don't be scared, go & get er' done..
Why are you afraid?
If you think it's going to hurt, it wont.. my daughter (8) just went and needed glasses. they may add drops, but its no different then getting water in your eyes in the shower.
If your afraid of the glasses, that shouldn't be a concern either, they have so many great frames now, and if you really hate yourself in glasses, contacts are so easy to use, and they come in such great colors too.
Something to think about. The sooner you go the easier things can be corrected. The longer you wait can make the problem so much worse, and sometime not correctable at all. This is one of those life occasions where you're just going to have to suck it up. You'll be so proud of yourself later.
