Normal gynecologist visit?

Question:
I went to the gyno a couple of weeks ago for the first time. He is a guy and I had heard if your gyno is a guy you should ask for a nurse to be in the room. I asked but then a guy nurse came in. I was too shy to say anything at the time, but it was really weird having two men in the room. Is that a normal thing to happen?

Answers:
it's fine unless you are extremely self conscious. If that is the case you may want to switch to a female dr. as there are a lot more male nurses in the field than there used to be.
I would think you should make it a point to have a woman doctor...

I would think the only reason a guy would be a gynecologist is because he's a perv.

That's why I wanted to be one!
The nurse (either male or female) is there to aid in the prevention of illicit activities or unacceptable behavior. He/she is also there should allegations of impropriety arise. Technically there was nothing wrong with it...as long as both behaved in a perfectly professional manner.

In the future, should you want a "stand in" as they're called, make SURE to mention that you want a FEMALE stand in for your next appointment when you're calling to book that appointment.
No offense to guy Ob-Gyn's but if they're looking "down there" I should think that you should get a female doctor
In these days of equality there is probabaly nothing wrong with it, although I wouldn't be very happy with two males in the room when having a gynae exam, the doctor on is own would be fine, if I ask for a nurse I would link a female.
If it happens again bont be shy ask for a female to be present
No, you should have had a female nurse in the room. Thats the whole point of asking them to come in. I would call their office and file a formal complaint. Sorry that happened to you. I would seek out a new *Female* dr.
