Just started on the pill, am i meant to get my period from the first day of taking the pill?

Question:
I just started on a low dose pill -Yasmin for the first time. Am I meant to get my period from the first day of taking the pill or is it meant to stop my period? Also, my period carried on a few days longer than usual. When the inactive (white) pills start I should get my period again in the same month.

Answers:
I've been taking yasmin for almost 1 and a half year. i usually get my period on the 4th days of inactive pills. i take a new pack of pills every four weeks on a Saturday and my period of that month will usually stops on 3 days after.

if you're taking yasmin for the first time, it's recommended (see the guidebook) that you take your first pill on the first day of your period. it may not stop your period immediately, probaby after a couple of days.

you shall be protected against pregnancy after 7 days of taking Yasmin, but to be on the safe side I suggest you use condom as a back-up method the first couple months.
You should start taking the pill the first Sunday after your period starts. Not just at any time. Normally, your period will start around the second or third day of inactive pills. I didn't have much luck with low dose myself, usually I find that if I take the pill even some hours late my period would come early.
the cycle is the same as other pills. Youll take active pills for three weeks and during that time youll ovulate. Once you have started taking the inactive pills youll get your period a few days later. If you take the pills consistently you should be able to gauge exactly when itll start and end. Switching brands can mess you up though but itll work itself out.
yes, as soon as you hit your white pills (sugar) at the end you should start again. good choice with yasmin, i think it is great.
I took Yasmin a few years ago... You're supposed to start with the pill on the first day of your period. It will make that period a lot shorter than usual. I would start with the white pills on a Sunday night, and it was usually Wednesday morning when I started my period. If you take the pills as scheduled, it'll be about 3 - 3 1/2 weeks when you get your second period.
I take yasmin also, have been for years now. When you start the first pill of the month it will stop your period. When you get to the placebo pills (the white ones at the end) you should get your period again. Sometimes it takes awhile for it to get into the proper cycle.
You are supposed to start taking your pill the Sunday after having your period. Did you do that? If you did then you shouldn't be having your period already, and you should get back with your gynecologist. Good luck! Everything should be fine.
Hello. Usually you start BC pills on the sunday after you start your period (whether you are still bleeding or not). Often times if you period had just started the pills with make it slow down and stop quicker than it would have normally. When you get to the white pills in your pack you will get your period. You will regulate soon enough and you will know your period will come every 4 weeks when you begin your white pills.

Good luck
