Sorry, another BC question?!?!?

Question:
I started my period mid today (my first time using it- Microgynon 30) and not sure whether to start pill THIS evening or wait till tomorrow evening. I want to start tomorrow because then my periods will be during the week, but if i start tomorrow will i still be protected from pregnancy? My periods usually last for 5/6 days anyway so i think i might still be protected if i start tomorrow but just want to make sure??

What i really wanna know is will i still be protected as it says in the pack that you are protected straight away if you start it when you start your period- ut mines quite long so a 1 day delay shouldn't really affect it right ?

Answers:
You can either start you birthcontrol on the day you start your period or the sunday following. I found it much easier to start on the day (or the next day) that i started my period, as the directions for when you miss a pill are much easier to understand. It shouldn't make a difference if you take it the day after you start your period instead of the day you start...but do make sure you use a back-up method for AT LEAST the first 2 weeks after you start your birth control.
Start your pill pack the first Sunday after you start your period. FOR THE FIRST WEEK OR TWO, USE A BACKUP METHOD NO MATTER WHAT. Don't take a chance. You made a good choice by starting the BC so continue by using a backup contraception.
