Was it ovulation bleeding or a period? ANSWER?

Question: i'm 15 years old, and have had my period for 2 years.
i have a 40 day cycle.
(my mom had one too)
my last period was june 17th.

around july 17th i was having ALOT of discharge, like before a period, and ovulation.
then on the 22nd of july the discharge had a little bit of a VERY light brown color in it.
then after that there was hardly any at all.

so do you think that the light brown discharge was my period, and it just was very light,
or
do you think i was ovulating, and i should get my period in the next few days??

discharge is discharge it is not because ur ovulating. Ive been menstruating since is was 12 and now I'm 25. the color just might be some old blood. it was not a period at all. here are some sites about periods and about ovulation.
