TSS is a bacterial infection of the blood and is NOT strictly related to tampons.
ANYONE of EITHER GENDER at ANY TIME can contract the disease. It can happen by getting a scratch and the bacteria entering the bloodstream that way. It can even be contracted while in the hospital!

its just when you leave it in to long the blood starts to become toxic
it is a bacterial infection in the blood that can be caused by not only leaving tampons in for longer than the amout you should but from other things as well. just don't leave your tampon in for more that the amount on the box says and you should and will be fine!! make sure you explain that to your mom!!
It's when a bacteria start to multiply in your vagina, mostly from using a tampon.
