Women only?

Question:
what do they do to you at a gyno test and does it hurt?

Answers:
1.) A nurse will ask for a urine sample, update your chart, and take your blood pressure.
2.) You'll then be asked to take off all of your bottom half clothing, and unhook your bra before the doctor comes in
3.) When the doctor come in they'll ask you about your periods, any discharge, any cocnerns, if your sexually active
4.) Then they'll go about an exam.

The exam will/should consist of:

1.) A breast exam - the doctor will just feel your breasts for abnormal lumps
2.) A pelvic exam - you'll sit on the bed with your feet in stirrups, the doctor will sit down with a light pointed in your vaginal area, insert a small duck-billed instrument called a speculum. Then he/she will do a "looking" exam where they just look at coloring, and shape/size, then they'll insert 1 or 2 fingers in your vagina and do a hand-on exam of your ovaries, and stuff. Then lastly they'll take a long q-tip like thing, swab it around to collect cells from your cervix, and send it off to the lab to check for precancerous or cancerous cells.

At that point you'll be finished, told to change, and your doctor will leave the room.

I know it seems long but it only takes a few minutes for the entire exam, and to be honest, when I had mine done last week (it was my first one ever, even though I'd been to the gyno before) I had no idea she was even doing it until I saw her throw the speculum away.

Don't be nervous, I promise it's easy. It may be a little uncomfortable, especially when they widen the speculum, but there's next to no pain involved for most women, absolutely no pain or discomfort for others.

Hope this helps. :-)
The dr. will check your breast for lumps and they will do a pap smear which is where they insert a metal piece inside you and take a tiny pinch of your cervix and test it . and they look around. Although this is embarrasing and it pinches just a little , no it's not painful. They have done this thousands of times and are very gentle. so don't worry it's just one of the many things us girls have to go through to stay healthy, good luck
No it doesn't hurt and they are very professional about it, nobody is gonna do anything to you
A gynecological exam can be scary and uncomfortable. A good physician will talk you through your first exam and explain the procedure to you so that there are no surprises. Be sure that you do not use any feminine hygiene products such as deodorant sprays or douche products because these can change the pH in your vaginal area and can effect your lab results. You will be asked to remove all of your clothing and generally you are provided an exam gown. Your Dr. will begin with a breast exam and will teach you how to do this exam yourself. Then the Dr. will ask you to place your feet in stirrups and relax your legs and knees so that a pelvic exam can be performed. The Dr. will examine the outside areas to make sure that there are no sores, abnormal growths etc. A speculum will be placed into your vagina to help open the area for examination. This will be a little uncomfortable and you may feel some pressure and discomfort. However, try to breathe deeply and relax.it will be over soon. Your Dr. will probably take a swab of your cervical cells to test for abnormal cell growth, sexually transmitted diseases, and infections. The Dr. will then insert a couple of fingers into the vagina and fell around on your stomach to check your ovaries. This again is accompanied by pressure and some slight pain. It is normal to have some spotting following your exam, so take a panty liner with you to the exam. Good luck!
