A question about birth control?

Question:
I'm deploying around January and was woundering what would be the best kind of birth control to use that would stop my period. I'll be gone for about 12-15 months and am married. Any suggestions?

Answers:
i use the nuvaring... you can use it normally and have a period every month or this s what i do:
have a period every 4 months for 3 periods a year
you can use it straight through and have no period until you choose to but my gyn told me you should have at least 3 periods a year.
the nuva ring is a birth control that once a month you insert and you remove it and replace imediately if you don't want to have a period. it is plastic and you can't feel it up there. you don't have to remember to take a pill at the same time everyday... i tell everyone that i know that is is the best thing since sliced bread.
other reasons why it is great.. i had an IUD not only did it hurt to have inserted, it hurt all the time it was in there; the most important reason to me is it is the lowest amount of effective hormone available in a birth control.. the patch is the highest and it made me sick, it is even lower than the lowest birth control pill. try it out and you will see it is GREAT!
warning: it says in the instructions that it can be reomved for 3 hours daily if you so choose and it is still just as effective, but i removed it for two and started my period the next day, so don't do it. also it sayd you are supposed to wear it for 3 weeks then remove it for one week for a period but the instructions say you can have it in for 4 weeks, i had it in for 4 weeks and one day and then swtched it with the new one and no problems.. playing with fire, i know but i forgot my replacement when i was out of town.
good luck for your deployment, hope the time flies for you.
Well there is that pill that gives you only 4 periods a year. Honestly I'm not sure what could fully flat out stop your period for that length of time. good luck with everything though. go to your gyn and talk to them I'm sure they will find something that will work for you.
if you are on bc now all you would have to do is skip your "sugar" pills and go straight into a new pack...
or.... there are a couple of pills out there that stop your period for 3 months at a time.. one of them is called seasonele.
When I was in Basic I went on Seasonale before I left. I only had one period the whole time I was in Basic. It gives only 4 periods a year. Even then they weren't horrific like you might think they would be! I would go for that. Before you go, go to your doc and ask!
Go to your doctor, and ask him for birth control that would stop it the longest, but i have heard of a pill or something that can stop it completely idk fer sure if its true but just ask him/her.
