Genetics and your daughter's medical history have a lot to do with when she will start her menstrual cycle. If your menstrual cycle started at 9 years of age, then chances are she will start her menstrual cycle at 9 years of age. Every girl is different. I started mine at 11, but i had a friend that didn't start hers until she was 16.
Now I have been told that the more active a girl is, the later she will get it. Don't know how much truth is to that. Cuz doctors have been known to not really know what they are talking about.lol
I have an eight year old as well. I think kids are starting early, but most start between 11-14. Very hard to predict. My girl looks like she will start before her friends due to how she looks physically. I started at 11, my sis at 10. I KNEW at 9 what a period was, and I will have the little chat with her before she turns 9, or shortly thereafter.
You will be able to tell as she nears the time...breast buds, hair cropping up in unexpected places.
But this is nothing to worry about.

yeah this is true... but you start your period at about one hundred pounds not necessarily any specific age
well I started mines @ 13 but these days you will never know the youngest I heard of was 10 Good luck
