Weird smell and color of vaginal discharge?

I have a weird smell in my vagina for the past 7 or 9 years or so. I know thats a long time but i am kinda worried of what it might be. It is sometimes light brown to dark brown and fishy smelling.I can sometimes feel it coming down as I laugh hard or strain. I have only had 2 sexual partners and used a condom, so I know its not an STD. Someone told me it can be because I wipe from back to front and that causes bacteria build-uo. I think thats what it is. But what do u think it is? im scared to go to the doctor. I never been to a gyno. It doesnt itch burn or hurt. The only symptoms is the smell and the color of the discharge which is dark brown. What could it be? What should I do? What is treatment options? is it over the counter? Please help !!! 10 points for the best answer Referencers are helpful. Thanx!!!!

See a doctor.

You need to go to the doctor ASAP and it does not have to be a GYN. Your regular doc can handle this. You should never ever have left this go this long without being treated as some infections can cause infertility if not treated promptly. THere IS NOTHING over the counter you can use because you don't know what infection you have. Also yes you need to wipe FRONT TO BACK and not the other way around. Call your docs office as soon as the clinic is open and get an appointment to be seen. Also since you have been sexually active you need a pap smear/pelvic exam yearly so schedule that to be done at the same time by your regular doctor.

You NEED to go to a doctor. A fishy smell is usually an indication of infection. And stop wiping back to front.

Hi! It does sound like an STD--especially Trichomonas Vaginalis or Gardnerella vaginalis. A simple short course of antibiotics will cure it. It would be best to see your OB-Gyn, not only can he/she (choose) take a sample of the discharge and have it examined under the microscope so you'll know what it really is and get appropriate treatment for it, but more importantly, he an give you a pap smear to check for cancer. Pap smear saves lives, and I have seen cases presenting as an infection when it was actually early-stage cancer which could have been treated easily. Condom is your best guard against STD but it is not 100%. Wiping front to back is also good practice, but if you do ave an infection then you should see a doctor. 7 years is too long already. First thing first, why haven't you ever seen a doctor? Do you care about your own body? It sounds like you have some type of infection or some type. You need to get this checked out ASAP. Oh and stop wiping from back to front, that's unsanitary. Good Luck!
