Tampons or Pads?

Question:
Ok i've had my period for almost 2 years now. I've only used pads because my mom never really mentioned tampons. I hate the feeling of wearing a "diaper." The problem is that i heard tampons might not be safe and i'm a little scared to put one in. Also, I don't want to ask my mom to get me some. What should I do?

Answers:
Yes I like tampons more. Just tell your mom you want to try them. See what she says. She is also a woman and will understand. The first time I got tampons with my mom, I just threw the box in the cart and said I needed it, and she didn't seem to mind. TSS is very rare. But read the box and do some research.
use the pads
i would go with pads, tamps are harmful i hear.
i perfer tampons myself.. see if you can borrow a friends/older sisters/ or maybe sneak one out of your moms stuff...
I use tampons. . .I wouldn't have it any other way.
do research online for it. Tampons can give you Toxic Shock Syndrome if it is not consistently changed. I personally use a pad but I have heard that tampons work really great. It doesnt matter if u are a virgin or not, u just need to find the right kind for you. The best ones are the ones that are going to gibve you the ultimate protection to avoid leaks! Hope this helps!
Tampons are easy to use and safe if you change them every 4 hours like you do a pad when you are awake. You simply insert it toward the small of your back and then "launch" it with the applicator and forget about it. Once in place you can't really feel it.
pads
Tampons are very comfortable once you get used to them. I would start off with a smaller one until you get used to inserting them. Also, you might want to wear a panty-liner with in case of leakage. Tampons are safe as long as you change them regularly.. read the information that comes with them. Good luck.
Ok so i tried a tampon before and I didnt really like the feeling of it so now i just use pads, but if you want to use tampons go ahead.Therei s this one disease called tss(toxic shock syndrome) but you dont have to worry about that if you change your tampon every 2-3 hours. If you are afraid of asking your mom then write her a letter asking if she can get you some, dont be afraid everyone girl eventually goes through it :) hope this answered your question.
Tampons are un-safe if you don't follow the directions. And it's really not hard to put in at all. If you're going to use one, relax and don't be scared. If you end up not being able to put it in, take it out and start with a new one. Follow the directions and you'll be fine.

If you don't like either, go to www.divacup.com and check it out. You don't have to throw it away until you're 35 or have a baby and it's more comfy than pads and easier to put in than tampons. Plus, if you don't bleed a lot during the day, you don't have to take it out [execpt it's kind of unhygenic, but still] because you won't get any side-effects from it.
On a safety note, pads are waaaaaay safer than tampons. Personally, I think they're tons more comfortable than tampons.
If you do decide to use tampons, make sure you change them at least every 4 to 6 hours lest you run the risk of a possibly fatal disease called Toxic Shock SYnrome which is most associated with prolonged tampon use.
I just got mine also. but i was using some of my moms tampons. Just ask her about it. it may be a little embarassing but there is less chance for it getting on your pants and you can go swimming and you cant feel it unlike pads. If you change them every 4 or 5 hours they arent dangerous. Just try them and it may take a few times before you feel comfortable using them.
try them, and that TSS thing is very rare, and it only happens if you don't take care of you and your tampons the right way. NEVER keep them in for over 3-4 hours, just to be safe. and if they are uncomfortable for you, then don't wear them.

oh, and just be like, "mom, i want to try tampons, can we get some from the store??"
Most girls use pads for quite some time. I started my period at 12 and didn't use tampons until about 16. If you want to try them, get the teen sized ones until you are comfortable with them. Your mom probably uses tampons! Just get it over with and tell her you were thinking about trying them.
Tampons are perfectly safe. If you change them frequently and use only the required size for your flow, or smaller, then they are very safe. If you ave it in right, you should not feel it at all- it may take some time to get it right. Pads are not necessarily safer than tampons. Pads keep the vagina moist, allowing for bacteria and yeast to grow. You could always take a quarter into a public restroom and buy one out of the machine!
I didn't use tampons for years, and now I wish I would have sooner. At first they are a little uncomforitable because you're not use to something like that. You can get the extra small ones, they usually have cardboard applicators and sometimes have the words "light" or "teens" on them. Your mom will be fine with you using tampons. If you really are that shy about it, ask to borrow a friends or a sisters. Toxic Shock Syndrome is very rare and only happens to crazy people who leave them in for long amounts of time all the time.

At first it might hurt a little, but once you get past that first time you'll be fine :)
tampons all the way pads suck you feel like you are riding a horse
