Someone told me that travelling to a higher altitude can change your menstrual cycle...is this true?

Question:
What causes this? Can a higher altitude make you start your period even if you just ended it?

Answers:
It's very true. I read in this backpacking book that said higher altitudes can make your cycle all weird, and you bleed heavier and longer. It's such a pain, because it happened to me last year on a backpacking trip and I was totally unprepared (and isolated with a bunch of guys! I had to use a pair of dirty socks); and it happened camping this year...both times completely out of the normal cycle. I don't know what it is, and I really don't like it, but I think the best thing to do is just come prepared.
that isnt true, in my opinion. on higher altitude, air pressure changes, its more low. so some people experience headaches, if they are traveling to somewhere higher. and there can also be lack of appetite, nausea or vomiting, fatigue or weakness, dizziness or light-headedness insomnia. so I dont think that low air pressure affects a female uterus and hormones.

wel thats just my opinion.
