Answers:
First, keep her exercising and staying healthy. Gaining a little bit of muscle will be a very healthy environment for a baby for 9 months. And as for what to eat... eat more nuts.. (peanut butter too) they are high in calories, fat, carbs, and protein. Also eat more white meat. Fish, chicken, etc. Also eating pastas that are high in carbohydrates. And encourage her to eat until she is really stuffed, but not TOO stuffed. And don't forget to take your vitamins everyday! Good luck with the baby! :)
Don't go straight for the big macs. Just eat more of the healthy things. Especially add nuts, peanut butter, trail mixes & seeds. And/or carbohydrates such as brown rice, pasta, breads, grains. Lean proteins - tuna, chicken, turkey. Be wary of eating high mercury level fish if you are pregnant, though.
You still want to have good health for the baby, not just more weight on your body. What you eat, you essentially become & that is what the baby will also be feeding on.
chocolate
Chocolate, sauces, and butter to the extreme will help her.
In order to gain weight properly, you need to get on a balanced diet, and eat 5-6 smaller meals per day. Do not eat what will obviously add weight. Research high and low GI carb foods. Carbs act as Insulin and the carbs that move faster (High GI) will move food and nutrients quicker.
If she were to eat high GI foods combined with healthier foods, It would ensure weight gain. Things high in protein will help with weight gain. Tuna, Chicken, Salmon are a few things high in that area.
Best of luck!
Tell her to hit the gym. Muscle weighs more than fat. Will make her healthier all around.
And hotter!
