When can I expect my next period after getting off the pill?

Question:
I stopped taking birth control just over a month ago, when I finished my last month's supply of the pill. I do not plan on getting back on birth control. When can I expect my next period? Should I expect to have irregular periods for a while, or will they return to normal pretty quickly?

Answers:
I was told it could be anywhere from a few days to a few months and that it might not be normal the first few times. If you weren't having regular periods before they might not be regular now.
Well I just went off the pill (Yasmin) and it's been 50+ days since my last period. I don't know that it's normal for it to be that long. I know last time when I went off I had no change it stayed pretty regular but as the pill got out of my system my periods woiuld get a little heavier.

I guess it depends on what pill you are taking.
Some women ovulate on the 8th day of no pill, so are back on a natural cycle immediately, but it can take up to three months for others.

If you didn't have regular periods before starting the pill, I wouldn't expect them to be regular once you are off it again.
