Question:
I heard chocolate helps and warm gatorade. but what are some other things besides medication?

Answers:
a heating pad
or sitting in the bathtub in warm water
exercising
drinking lots of water
the herb cramp bark and drink lots of water
Red Raspberry Leaf tea, a few times per day. No side effects. Talk to your local health food store for more info.
walking helps relieve the pain.
don't overeat or eat things that will cause you to hold water..
stetches in the am after a warm bath..
Stretches... if you lie on your stomach on the floor and arch your back and raise your legs a little also, you stretch your stomach muscles which releaves dome of the pulling pain from the cramps. If this fails the only other methond is pills, try Tylenol or Motrin and if there is no luck there try Midol.
Cramps are the worst. You can usually put a warm washcloth or water bottle on your stomach when laying down, and that'll help it feel better. Drink lots of water as well. As far as the eating thing goes, I've actually never heard of anyone eating anything to get rid of cramps.

Good luck!
Omg, I get cramps realllly bad. I'm not good with pain, and if my cramps are this bad now, who knows what being in labor will be like for me! haha. Well, I drink lots of caffine free tea. Tea with caffine in it supposedly makes cramps worse. Try any tea with chamomile herbs in it or anything that is supposed to relax you. Pepermint should also help. oh! and caffine free green tea is also great. If you don't like tea because it tastes boring, add a little sugar, honey, or even maple syrup. There's always a nice heating pad too! Good luck hun!
The best thing I've found are those Thermacare patches. It's like wearing a heating pad (which helps too!) When I can't be at home with the heating pad on - I put one of those patches on and it works like a charm.
Chocolate really won't help. The temperature of the gatorade has nothing to do with it either.

In the week before your period, drink lots of water and cut down on salty foods. Your body will crave salt, but it usually just makes things worse.

You should be getting regular exercise all through the month, but going for a brisk walk or run or a swim (use a tampon) when you have your period will really help get rid of cramps. You may find the first few minutes painful, but the pain should go completely away after that, and stay away for hours afterwards.

You can also take a calcium supplement in the week before your period (you should supplement with calcium if you're not getting three servings of dairy per day anyway), as calcium aids in muscle relaxation.
chocolate?noooooo
don't do that, i take an advil and go sleep for a couple of hours.drink cinnamon milk.you just boil the cinnamon and the milk.there is another cinnamon recipe but it's only cinnamon and water boil them
try not to drink anything with caffiene in it, drink lots of water, don't eat as many starches, use a heating pad or warm washcloth on your stomach area, stay active instead of sitting around

yes chocolate does help but also roughage.. make sure that during your period and at least a week before you eat plenty of apples, green vegetables and raw cabbage..
