My menstrual cycle...?

Question:
Hi. K --- I'm planning a trip to Las Vegas to visit family and friends, we'll be going to Lake Mead for a party and I wanted to make sure I wouldn't be starting my cycle at that time, so that I can wear a bikini and swim comfortably with no flowage.

My cycle began on Sunday, August 12th, and I started my birth control pack for the first time in a year (again) on the 12th. Will my cycle start over again on the 12th of September? or because I started the birth control will my cycle be out of whack and begin on a totally different date? I'll be in Vegas from the 14th of September and on into the weekend.

Thank for your help!

Answers:
Why would you get your period on the 12th of September?
If you are on the combination pill you get your period on the last week of pills or on the week off depending on the pack (week 4). Usually it takes a few days of the sugar pills before you get your period. As long as you experience no break through bleeding you should get your period around September 5th and it should be long gone before your holiday.
Have fun.
Check with your doctor but its quite common to just start another pack of pills right after finishing your first pack to totally skip your period for a month. I did this for my honeymoon years ago, I was due to start on my wedding day and the doctor said just start a new pack of pills even though I would skip my period.
The bc pills will take over your cycle. If you started the bc pack on Aug 12, you will be taking 3 weeks of active pills, then your period will start the following week (the 4th week) usually about 2-3 days after you took your last active pill, so figure about tuesday, Sept 4.

You should be fine. Have fun!
