Birth Control?

Question:
I just got done with my first months birth control and my period was light and only lasted two days. I'm on Loestrin 24 FE and my doctor did not say much to me about it. My boyfriend and I use spermicide condoms, so we're really careful. So I'm just wondering if your first period is to be really light. We have not had sex at all in the last three weeks, maybe even four. Can someone answer this question for me with a real answer and not something made up. I looked at their website and it just said it could be light but there was not a lot of blood.

Birth control that you ingest, such as the pill, works by adjusting your hormone levels. When you first start taking the pill your hormone levels are going to be fluctuating and changing, and it takes time for your body to adjust to the hormone regulation that occurs when you take the pill. It can take a couple of months for your body to adjust to the pill. Likewise, if you stop using the pill it may also take a couple of months for your body to adjust. This means that the length of time your period lasts and the heavy/lightness of the flow will vary as your body adjusts to the new hormone levels. Additionally, many women experience lighter flows that last for fewer days while on the pill. Also, there are many other influences that affect the length and flow of your period. For example, heavy exercise during the month can cause you to have a lighter period. Your diet can also affect your period. Really, as long as there are no foul odors and your aren't experiencing abnormally colored discharge during the month have no fear. Don't be shy about calling up your doctor with questions and concerns. Way to be responsible and take care of your body!
Birth control makes everything kinda wonky for a while! sometimes itll be light, heavy, not there at all..it can be really frustrating! but dont worry too much!
Yes this is actually very normal when you first start BC pills. Some women dont have one at all during the first few months. It takes time for your body to get used to the hormones. I am glad to read that you are using condoms as well, BC pills need that first month to really be effective, so good for you!

Also, just an FYI, always rememeber that if you have to take antibiotics for anything while on the pill, you will need back up protection because the pill wont work as well that month. Drs seem to forget to tell people that sometimes.
It takes time for alot of women to adjust to any new birth control. You're not the only experiencing "odd" periods. It usually takes a pack or two of birth control before your body will adjust. I work at an OBGYN clinic, and I actually get alot of phone calls like these. I would just give it some time. If by your 3rd pack, you're still having odd periods, I would talk to your doctor about possibly switching to another type of birth control.
