Sex health question.?

Question:
Everytime my husband and I have sex if I do not immediatly get up and use the restroom I always end up with a bladder infection. I would like to spend time with my husband afterwards but instead I always have to go to the restroom. Why is this and what can I do about it? Also are there any related topics where I can read about this on the internet?

Answers:
The exact location of the urethra varies in women. For some of us, it is very close to the vaginal opening, or even a little inside. We are the ones who are more prone to UTI's because bacteria gets pushed into the opening of the urethra during sex.

Even if you're clean, there will always be some bacteria (normal). The problem is that, unlike the vagina, the environment in the urethra can't inhibit their growth very well. Also, previous UTIs can leave behind some scarring , which provides an even better environment for the bacteria to grab hold and start multiplying. Cranberry helps, but is no substitute for flushing out by peeing right away.

Bottom line is that you should just snuggle for a minute, jump up and pee, then come back for more snuggle time. Just do it without thinking about how much you resent it, and it won't interfere with the moment that much. Make sure hubby knows the whole story and can be supportive.
Sounds like an infection passed between the two of you. Cranberry juice is reputed to be good at preventing this -- drink it of course.
when you have sex bacteria is pushes towards the vagina that is normally naturally cleaned away. your body makes you want to use the loo afterwards so that you dont get an infection. just keep doing this or suffer the consequences. you casn always spend a little time with him after you have gone to the loo.
It's definitely a cause and effect relationship. During sex, both your "fluids" and his "fluids" may enter your urethra, and because this oriface is NOT self cleansing like the vagina is, those fluids stay there until you urinate and this can allow all sorts of bacteria to grow and spread. You really SHOULD urinate after sex to flush out these foreign fluids. Otherwise, get a pack of "feminine cleansing wipes" and keep them by your bed to clean up a bit.
same thing happens to me. my doc suggested both of us wiping off with a baby wipe before sex to control the amount of bacteria that passes between us. it works, but i still get up and use the toilet afterwards, just to make sure.
This is a semi-educated guess on my part, but I think his semen carries trace amounts of any meds he may be taking. If so, this may be just enough to mess up the good bacterial in your system and the reason you should go to the bathroom right away ...
Vaginal Problems
Most women experience minor vaginal problems from time to time. These problems can be related to menstrual cycles, sex, infection, birth control methods, aging, medicines, or changes after pregnancy.

A change in your normal vaginal discharge may be the first sign of a vaginal problem. Changes in urination, such as having to urinate more frequently or burning when you urinate, also may be a symptom of a vaginal problem.

Conditions that may cause a change in your normal vaginal discharge include:

Infections of the vagina, such as a yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, human papillomavirus (HPV), or herpes.
Infection of the cervix (cervicitis).
An object in the vagina, such as a forgotten tampon.
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), such as chlamydia or gonorrhea.
Various sex practices, such as oral-to-vaginal and anal-to-vaginal contact.
Vaginal medicines or douching.
Are you sure it isn't a Urinary Tract Infection verses a bladder infection? If bacteria goes up the urethra it will cause a U.T.I.
You can Google bladder infections for signs and symptoms and prevention methods. WebMD offers sound medical information. www.webmd.com
I am almost certain that this bothers you far more than it bothers your hubby.
Good Luck!
This is interesting, I would think however that some more information is needed. Such as, are you using condoms, and what type (latex, lambskin etc), are there any other times that you get bladder infections? I would also be curious to know if either you or your husband ever been tested for any sexually transmitted infections.

It seems curious that you would so certainly have a bladder infection from this. An infection would imply that bacteria is being introduced to the bladder or is given a new environment that is more suitable for growth... I really have no idea what would cause this in your case.

In my honest opinion, go see your doctor, tell them about it, they may want to run some tests. It is possible, however unlikely that you may have a condition of the bladder which is prone to infections more so than others. This may be something that should be treated.

As a side note: Does it occur if you go to the washroom before sex as well? That might be an option.
you shouldn't get a bladder infection as you have sex with your vagina or anus but check of any abnormality with your ureter if you clean your vagina and your husband his penis very good you shouldn't get this problem or you need to go see an urologist quickly...
This happens to me too. I think its just the way it is. I'm sure your husband understand and if he doesn't just explain it to him. it's not a big deal really. I also feel a lot cleaner after I go to the bathroom anyway.
