Emergency help! - Has anyone had a unrinary tract infection?

Question:
If so, what helps until you can get to the doctor? I have Cranberry pills I've heard that's suppose to help. I'm at work and can't leave right now, is there anything that helps?

Answers:
The cranberry pills will help - they'll relieve the discomfort until you can call your doctors office, but they'll turn your pee orange. Tell your doctor's secretary that you have a UTI and need a prescription. They should submit it to your pharmacist and you can pick it up on your way home from work.
I have found that drinking plenty of water helps me.
not right away, but if you drink cranberry juice, or you can drink a beer. That will help get rid of it.
Go to the drugstore during your break and get some pills called AZO. It helps with the burning. Also, drink a lot of cranberry juice and water, preferably cranberry juice because it's good for the uniary tract. Take Aleve for the pain. Go to the doctor after work.
Ibuprofen might help, but real relief won't happen until you get some antibiotics... The extra water idea might help a little too, but sometimes it is the act of peeing that hurts so there is a chance that will backfire...

To prevent future UTI, drink more water, take the cran-pills, take showers instead of baths (which can force bacteria back up the vagina and urethra), and pee often and completely...

You'll have to leave the office, but phenazopyridine helps a lot! It will turn your pee bright orange, but it really relieves the pain and urgency. One brand name is Uristat, but there are others. You can get over-the-counter.

Cranberry pills help prevent UTI, but won't really help the symptoms once you have one.
