Late period?

Question:
my cycle is normally around 30 days but i have not had my period for 40 days now. Im sure im not pregnant but have not done a test. Any ideas?

Answers:
There are many possible reasons for a late period. One of the most common ones, other than pregnancy, is stress. If you're sure you can't be pregnant, I suggest just waiting a little longer and if it doesn't come within a month or so, see a doctor. If you are pregnant I think you'd have an idea by now... Look for the common signs; breast tenderness, morning sickness (it doesn't have to be in the morning).
get a home pregnancy test
If you screwed and late well, I guess you are...screwed.
The really only explanation that jumps out at me is that your diet has changed dramatically or you are stressed.
Besides pregnancy, stress, too much exercise (body fat=too low=not enough hormones produced).
StrESS! is the answer you want to hear. Many of my friends have altered cycles when we start hard exams... have you been stressed? any events, habits you have recentrly changed? even an infection or flu.

Nevertheless, a pregnancy test is a good idea. You can use it even the first day of delay, you are on time, accidents happen even if things go perfect.

I hope everything goes fine. tell us what the problem was when you know. that would be interesting.
Stress and weight changes such as for those who are dieting can cause the period to be delayed as well. When it comes to the issue of stress it doesn't matter whether the thing causing the stress is good or bad.

I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.
