Women should never ever douche without a doctors order. Douching upsets the bacteria in the vagina and sets it up for infections. The vagina is a self cleaning oriface. YOu should never douche or use soaps or sprays in that area.
No! they are completely unnecessary and cause more problems then they help. Bodies do that stuff naturally.
It's not necessary for your daughter to douche. Doing so can cause many unnecessary problems. It destroys the natural ph of the vagina causing problems such as bacterial infections, yeast infections, urinary tract infections, pelvic inflamatory disease, etc. Please don't encourage your daughter to douche!
No. There is no real reason to douche at all, unless you have a vaginal infection or itching. Then you use a medicated douche. It upsets the normal balance of things in the vagina to douche. It's a self-cleaning set up, and if you upset that balance you can set yourself up for infections and other problems. Your 13 year old should not have a problem that required douching unless a gynecologist recommends it. Her periods will be unpredictable at first, for up to a year and a half after this, so don't get stressed over it not happening on a predictable cycle just yet. Just make sure she knows what's going on, and why. Don't give her the idea that there is anything disgusting about it, or that she is somehow "unclean" as a result. And no douching, please. It's really not needed and causes more trouble than it is worth.
No, douches are harmful at every age. There is no reason to use a vaginal douche. Female genitals are self-cleaning--they only need to be washed--on the outside-- with water or perhaps a mild body wash.
I have never met anyone who has douched, that's old school Dad! They aren't safe, they can cause bacterial infections. Just have her use maxi pads with wings!
