Stones were inserted into the vagina by the Egyptians to reduce the risk of pregnancy and attempts at chemical contraception including dung were tried! Animal intestine, just like sausage skin and leather condoms were early methods tried about 400 years ago. Abortion has also often been used as a method of contraception.
dinosoar skin condoms
The Romans apparently used certain herbs such as asafoetida as contraceptives. I believe herbal 'plugs' were also used as a barrier type prophylactic in Roman times, and, later, Casanova is said to have used a lambskin condom.

How about "coital interruptus" method; I believe this was an easy-to-use and most economical contraceptive. It's also easily available.Want to give it a try?
The first recorded contraception that I know of was the withdrawl method (taking the penis out before ejaculation) used by Onan in Genisis 38:9. Its a rubbish form of contraception because the fluid that a man produces during sex also contains sperm.
All societies have used a form of contraception, the most famous and still used today is the condom. Condom is a place in France, but this method may not have come from there. Condoms were orginally made of animal, usually sheep, intestins. So grateful for latex!!
There`s nothing changed - the most effective form of contraception is still the female headache!
the Romans used condoms made out of sheep's bladder . nice hey. "Love get the sheep's bladder ready I want sex tonight ."Romance at it best. Mind you I am talking about Romans
