I would definitely leave it in for now, it is not hurting where it is. One of the benefits of Mirena is that it can stop your periods which happened to me a couple of months after having it fitted, havent had a period for 6 years now and that is wonderful! No expense of sanitary towels, no PMT, no worrying about 'that time of the month'. It is a fantastic contraceptive as you dont have to think about it, no pills to take, no injections to remember, it just sits there and does its own thing. And if you decide you want to become pregnant, you are fertile when you have it removed, no waiting around.
And also if you have it removed then decide you want another one putting in later in your life, you may not get one as they are quite expensive and not supposed to be for short term contraceptive use. So I would keep hold of it for now. Sorry to hear about your break up by the way, hope you are ok.
I wouldn't get it taken out. That would be silly. Mirena is reversable at any time. You may have to wait for a short time for the effects of the progesterone to allow you to ovulate normally, but this is true with any hormonal birth control method. Wait to get it taken out when and if you are in are a relationship or in a situation where you choose to have a child. To take it out now would be foolish.
I wouldn't get it taken out. I enjoy the benefits of light periods and no PMS. When you do get into a relationship again remember to use condoms until you are sure that you are in a monogamous relationship.
