I am 10 too. They just check your privates because they want to see how far you are in puberty. I just got a check up. They are doctors. It's not like they are gonna laugh at your privates! They just tell your mom or dad that you are in puberty or that you didn't start puberty or that you will start your period soon. They just tell your parents stuff about you in puberty. That's all. And that's the point of check ups. The only other thing that they do is give your shots sometimes or give you medicine. Don't worry.
Hope this helped...<3
Nobody ever looked at my privates until I was in labour with my first child. Nobody will look there in a general check up unless you are having problems in that area. Rest easy : )
get over it, a lot of people are going to look at your privates in life...
There is nothing to worry about. For doctors our body is like a workbook as they examine us.
We also share our private thoughts and issues with our friends then why should we worry about undressing in front of a doctor who can examine us better than us.
Honey, unless you're sexually active or have a query about something down there you don't need to worry. If you are sexually active, you need to let your doctor know (with or without your parent present - as far as I'm aware you need a guardian presence/approval for an exam if under 16) so that he/she may conduct a pap smear or pelvic exam for anything out of the ordinary. They can be a little uncomfortable but remember they are in place to help uncover any abnormalities before they become a problem. Remember to ask your doctor any questions to make sure you understand what is being said and tell them everything so that they can make a correct diagnosis and make a decision as to what needs to be done (if anything) medically.
They shouldn't look at your privates at 10 years old...unless you have been through something traumatic where they need to check everything out...
you didn't say what the check-up is for but if you are not having a problem "down there" then they won't need to look. i understand your nervousness because i was the same way at your age. talk to your mother about this and i am sure she can reassure you about it. good luck, sweetie.
Ok first off there is no need to worry. You mother should be in the room with you. All doctors should behave in a professional manner. Just relax a little. They will not do anything that would bother you. They are not there to invade your space. They just want to make sure you are healthy. Now if that does come up just calmly say that you are uncomfortable and they will do anything to help you out. Please don't be scared and don't listen to those who say that you need to get used to it. One will never be fully used to a situation like this especially at your age. Just take it one step at a time ok. I hope everything goes ok for your appointment.
At 10 I don't think the doctor will look at your privates but the doctor will eventually look. Once you get older, things change with your privates and the doctors need to know what is going on. Doctors look at our bodies differently than we do. They look to make sure everything is going smoothly. Don't be worried about a doctor looking, though. They just want to make sure you're okay. :)
hi there Chelsea, for a check up you will not need to undress at all, dont worry about a thing :)
