Answers:
tampons are awesome. you feel so much cleaner and you dont have to worry about leaking. just get the right absorbency for your flow. make sure not to leave them in for over 8 hours though! good luck!
Try wearing overnight pads first. Then if that doesn`t work try using a tampon and a regular pad for back up. Also, you might want to put a dark colored towel across your bed to avoid stained sheets and covers!

Wear 2 pads cover everything or the over night ones are cool.
The same thing used to happen to me. Then, I started wearing a tampon and a pad at the same time, and ever since, I literally haven't had one leakage problem when I sleep (I'm a very heavy bleeder). It's true that tampons can help, and so can super absorbant pads with wings. If you're scared of tampons, you should talk to your mom or an experienced female friend about them. That way, you'll know people who use them and see that there's nothing really to fear from them.
Oh, and if you really don't want to use a tampon, you could do like I used to and on top of your pad, put several sheets of toilet paper and move your pad back a little so that when you lay down to sleep, you have a couple of extra layers and your back is covered by more padding.
Good Luck
i suggest that you try tampons.. they are a very safe and clean way to deal with your period.
dont be scared honey .... theres no pain involved you just have to relax. This is part of being a female.
Girls like you that have this problems with pads are really made for tampons
I think you should just give it a try. It might turn out handy when vollyball season gets here...
Good luck
Try buying pads made to be wore at Night..they usually say "Overnight pads".
They work for me!
Tampons are GREAT!
I was extremely scared to use on too...but 2 months ago I finally did it! It didn't hurt at all!
I would recomend that you get a medium sized tampax pearl with a plastic applicator. Those are the easiest to put in. Just make sure to have it up all the way, and it will be VERY comfy. You won't even feel it! So remember not to use them for more then 4-6 hours because that could be unhealthy. So don't sleep in them.
There are pads out there that are made for sleeping. They are extra long and thick, with wings! They work great so they won't leak.
If your in Junior High, I recomend that you keep a small pouch of pads, tampons, quarters (just incase you run out and have to buy some), a plastic bag, and a fresh pair of undies in your locker. Or backpack. This is very good to have!
Good luck, I hope I helped!
try use a menstral cup they are so good they catch the blood instead of soaking it up like a tampon when it gets full just empty it into the toilet then wipe out with toilet paper
these are better than tampos and you cant get tss a deadly deasese u get from tampons
Yes try using tampons. There is nothing to be scared of. They can't get lost in you, and there is virtually no way to put it in wrong. There is an instruction manual inside each box of tampons that explains how to put them in. Otherwise, they do make longer & thicker pads designed for night time wear.
Tampons are great for an active lifestyle, or if you are in school. They are a little intimidating at first, but with proper insertion, it's like they are not even there. Two of the brands that I like the best are Kotex Security and Playtex Gentle Glide. Kotex Security Super Plus is my favorite, and what I use most of the time. It's okay to leave a tampon in while you are sleeping, but during the day you should never leave a tampon in for more than 4 hours at a time. When properly inserted, tampons don't hurt while inside of you. Even with a tampon, leaking is possible, and that is why lightweight thin pantiliners such as Kotex Lightdays or Always pantiliners make great tampon backup.
As for the leaking pad problem, you didn't mention what absorbency or type of pad you are using. Kotex and many other brands make Overnight pads that are thicker and longer than daytime pads. Also pads with wings tend to leak more at night then regular pads because the wings seem to twist things all around while you sleep, especially if you roll over a lot. When I used pads instead of tampons, I used to have to overlap two Overnight pads one edge on top of the other, and sometimes there would still be leaking. I always put a red or black towel on my bed under me when I'm on my period to prevent my sheets from getting ruined by accidental leakage.
Get sanitary underwear! Those better brands absorb the leakage and makes sure it only stays on the inner side of the underwear without leaking! Of course, you need to wear a pad still. But at least it helps to prevent leaks!
First of all, before you go to bed, put one pad on normally and then put another pad horizontally on top of the other one, so it covers all of you. Then, get a dark towel and put it on your bed so that you don't leak onto your sheets! I would also recommend using pads made for night, with a higher absorbency...

Also, buy higher absorbency pads for the day and change your pad more often.
Another tip, I know it soudns weird, is to wear two pairs of pants because it holds the pad more securely to you and can help stop leakages.
That was the very same reason I wanted to switch to tampons. That and because I loved swimming more than anything. It may be time to give it a try.
