Getting a perscription for the birth control pill?

Question:
hey
what qualifications (other than age) do I need to get a perscription for the birth control pill
(example: If I rarely have sexual realtion ships, do I need to take it?) rarely = a few times every other month
Also how will if affect me (side effects? skipping periods)
How often do you have to take it
what happens when you stop

tell me all about it!

Answers:
well its depends on the pill your taking so ask your doc
Skipping periods? hunny, birthcontrol regulates your periods not messes them up. Any reason you want birthcontrol they give it to you. You take it everyday at the same time. When you stop your period is usually painful again and it is off schedule so it's good to stick to them
ask your doc
i answered the part one for this question but
you need to take it every couple weeks you cant just take birth control pills whenever you are gonna have sex because your birth control wont work you can come off of birth control like that if you did wanna come off it you would have to tell your doctor the birth control stop the egg from traveling to the fallopian tube you should either use a women condom i forgot what some of the name brands are but there are vagina condoms, male condoms, birth control really if you have sex it a the best thing to do is take something and see which one you like using better

Before I had my three kids (and during the times between them) I was on the pill for 12 years and there are great benefits to it! Shorter periods with very little discomfort - and great skin - it clears problem skin too! You don't have to "qualify" for anything - not even age - the doctor is REQUIRED by law to keep it confidential - I was 15 when I started them and I went alone - and you take it daily (same time every day) Better to be safe than sorry - I have so many "sorry" friends & I started my family when I was 27 after I got my life to where I wanted it.
Well, if you are only using it as birth control, and not to regulate your cycle, then you have many options.

The pill, you take every day. The main side effects are an increase in headaches (for me!) and weight gain/loss for different women.

There are other forms of the "pill", like the patch or the ring (not for your finger lol)

Basically, if you are under 18, you need to talk to a parent about it. They need to get you an appointment to a gynecologist. If you are worried about your parents finding out that you are having sex, ask them to make an appointment b/c your "periods are irregular", wink wink. Then, don't let your mom go in the room with you. You can then explain to the doctor that you are already having sex, but don't wnat your parents to know, but would like to be sure you don't get pregnant. They will keep it confidential.

If you are over 18, talk to your insurance provider about a gynecologist in your area and make an appointment. Answer all your doctor's questions and tell her you want to go on the pill.

Problem solved.
It really depends on what you want from birth control. They work wonders in lessening or actually getting rid of your period for the most part. Birth control pills do not protect against STD's though. You should always use a condom, even if you are on birth control. Birth control pills are great if you are in a committed MONOGAMOUS relationship, but if that is not the case then condoms are a must. There are some options with BC. Most are a pill you need to take everyday, skipping will increase your chance of ovulation. You can get them from your gynecologist after you have had a pelvic exam and PAP performed. Or you can also take a field trip down to your local Planned Parenthood (this is also where you can get birth control cheaper than at the pharmacy... it is expensive and most insurances do not cover it). If you are 16 you can go to planned parenthood confidentially.
Be safe and take care!
