You aren't fat.
Try being 5' 9" and 240 pounds. It isn't pretty. Although, having abnormally large breasts (by genetics) is part of the reason. and plus, I really am big-boned. My doctor even said so.
So anyway, stop thinking crazy. Either figure out a diet that works, or find a way to be happy with your thin self!
Never try a diet that doesn't allow a little wiggle room. The Jello commercial is right. "Every diet needs a little wiggle room!" You need to be able to eat a small piece of chocolate cake once a month if you really want to. You need to allow yourself to have that one glass of soda when you go out with friends every so often. The key is BALANCE. Balance healthy habits with small treats, and it will all work out.
If I don't get to have a piece of candy once a week, I wouldn't be able to stick to my diet.
Oh, and make an eating plan. Trust me, it helps. But, DON'T STARVE YOURSELF. You will end up looking even uglier than you already think you do. Those who are anorexic have many more problems than just being underweight. Their insides are all screwed up, it takes years to be "well" again. Their nails and teeth and hair start to yellow and get brown and icky and fall out because they aren't eating. Their skin just droops on their fragile bones and they are more susceptible to disease. Please, don't do that to yourself.
Just give your diet some wiggle room and everything will work itself out. If you eat properly, your body will find it's ideal weight on its own. As long as you nourish yourself, your body will not let you become under OR over weight. You will remain in perfect harmony with yourself. No matter what the scale says.
I think you already are! 140 lbs is a good weight for 5'4", so you must be thin!

honey... 5'9 140lbs isnt fat. please dont become anorexic. if you think you have a tummy or your body just isnt the way youd like it, just work out till it is. seriously, i highly doubt youre fat.

it sounds like you have a really distorted image of yourself and you should really get a hold on it now before it gets out of control and does lead to somthing like anorexia or bulimia. take it from someone who knows what anorexia is like--it's not worth it. i destroyed myself for 2 years and now i'm going to be paying for it for the rest of my life. just eat healthy and exercise regularly and you should be fine.
First of all, I can't wait till I'm 140lbs! And I'm only 5'2. So please don't feel bad. You are certainly not fat and you're not a failure.
Instead of trying to restrict what you eat, what about taking control of your exercising. Commit to walk a certain distance everyday and increase that each week. Or run or rollerblade or bike or swim or play tennis or whatever.
And please keep in mind that people with anorexia do not have control of their lives. The disease has control over them. They are prisoners. Please do not admire them. They need help.
You sound skinny to me, I'm 5'5 and 143! And there is NOTHING to admire about someone who starves their body of nutrition! Please do not become anorexic, it will hurt your body more than you know! If you really want to lose weight go jogging or go to a gym.
The sad truth is that they actually have no control over their lives. To stay committed, join a group like Weight Watchers; it's much easier than trying to go it alone. Please do not resort to ruining your life just to lose some weight.
