Oral and vaginal thrush?
Question:
Answers:
Hormone changes with some women's periods alter the pH ( acid levels ) in the vagina, this can make it more suitable to grow thrush. I have some patients who are prescribed a monthly Canetan One pessary to use with every period automatically. A possible ' natural ' option is indeed LIVE natural yogurt. Unfortunately eating it does not help, the lactobacilli are just digested. You need to dip a tampon into the pot and insert a fresh one each day for 2-3 days during your period.
There is no real link between oral and vaginal thrush directly, however indirectly the same thing can give rise to both. A course of antibiotics, an immunity problem or diabetes for example might trigger separate thrush infections in both places, perhaps these should be checked for to be on the safe side.
its an infection and needs medication > go to the doctor ASAP
you need to check the sanitary ware that you use, tampons need to be used for more than 4 hours and pads for less, the pill you use may also affect your natural balances. there is a natural fem wash that's available from the chemist which restores natural balance too. your partner may need to be treated too as you may be reinfecting each other. also stressing about it can also bring on an attack. many women also suffer from something called bacterial vagicosis which is similar to thrush but can be treated with antibiotics, you can look the symptoms up on the Internet.as for your mouth thrush they aren't really related but you can rid yourself of it by using a mouthwash called corsidol, its horrid but it works wonders.
You may have systemic candida, i.e. it's throughout your system. Vaginal is probably the most common type of thrush, but oral is common too, and it can affect the anus, and the nipples of breastfeeding women - anywhere warm and wet the way thrush likes it.
It is partly hormonal, the hormone shifts before a period alter the acid balance of the vagina, but if you are stressed and run down then you will be more prone to thrush in general.
Have you ever taken Diflucan (available over the counter)? It is a pill you swallow which treats the whole system. Might be worth a look if you have recurrent thrush.
When you go to your doctor take you partner with you as well and get him checked out. It may be he has it to and he is re-infecting you during love making good luck
Suffered thrush for many years - to find it followed a pattern each month. Eventually found it was a hormonal thing, related to change in hormones around period time, and had it for 12 months very bad after having had a baby.
The oral tablet and cream sold over the counter at the pharmacy is excellent. The cream used by itself is useless, but I find the oral tablet is good.
Having had a hysterectomy many years ago, the thrush problem cleared up. However, I do find I have a minor problem with it when I'm under a lot of stress. So it could be both hormones and stress together for you.
whilst some people are more prone to hormone induced thrush you should really see your GP to rule out an underlying condition like diabetes
