Mood swings/irritability after coming off the pill?

Question:
I came off the pill (Microgynon 30) at the end of May after being taking it for five years (not TTC btw). Although my last three periods have been completely regular I feel grumpy alot more often and also my sex drive has become quite erratic!

I was expecting my periods to take a while to settle down and possibly more PMT but not constant grouchiness! Has anyone experienced similar symptoms...or have any idea how long this may last?

Answers:
I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm on the patch and a few monthes ago I went off it for a month and I was so emotionally erratic. I had migraines, fatigue and mostly just irritability. I went back on the patch and it all went away. Don't know if that helps you any but you're not alone
These sound like pretty common problems. The pill really messes with your hormones. It could take a while for your body to re-adjust after such time on the pill. I would imagine it is similar to giving birth. Which can mess up your hormones for up to a year.
I had terrible mood swings and hot flashes coming off the pill. It settled down in about 3 months
